China to develop 18-MW Hongwawu, 10-MW Zhamushui

China’s Hubei Guangrun Electricity Generation Co. Ltd. (HGEG) is launching a new phase of the World Bank-funded Hubei Hydropower Development Project that includes construction of the 18-MW Hongwawu and 10-MW Zhamushui hydroelectric projects in Jianshi County, Enshi Prefecture of Hubei Province.

HGEG and China’s CMC International Tendering Corp. invite inquiries from prospective bidders for major civil construction of the hydro plants as part of the program, which includes expanding sustainable power generation in Hubei Province, commercializing generation companies, and contributing to poverty alleviation.

Proposed construction of Hongwawu includes: a 41-meter-tall, 458-meter-long concrete-faced rockfill dam; a first-stage powerhouse containing two 4-MW generating units; a second-stage powerhouse containing two 4-MW and one 2-MW units; and a 4.6-kilometer 35-kilovolt transmission line to Zhamushui step-up station.

Proposed construction of Zhamushui includes: a 77-meter-tall, 142-meter-long concrete double-curvature arch dam; a powerhouse containing two 5-MW generating units; a step-up station; and a 12-kilometer 110-kilovolt transmission line connecting the substation to the transmission grid.

Procurement is to be conducted under World Bank guidelines. Pre-qualification of suppliers and contractors might be required for major civil works contracts. Prospective bidders who wish to be included on a mailing list for invitations to bid are invited to contact the addresses below.
