India state reopens bids for independent power

India’s Madhya Pradesh State has reopened a solicitation for independent power producers to build power plants of any technology, including hydropower, to sell electricity to the state-owned M.P. Power Trading Co. Ltd. Proposals are due August 30.

M.P. Power, successor to Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB), invites proposals from developers and generators offering a minimum of 20 MW and a maximum of 2,000 MW. (HNN 3/30/06) Contracts would be for 15, 25, or 35 years, based on the type of generating technology. MPSEB’s earlier solicitation was withdrawn.

Bid documents may be obtained until July 16 from the address below for 100,000 rupees (US$2,250) by demand draft to M.P. Power Trading Co. at Jabalpur. Bids are due August 30. Short-listed bidders will be issued additional bid documents within 30 days.
