Nile Basin Initiative seeks water resources management

The 10-nation Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) seeks expressions of interest from consultants to develop a Nile Basin Decision Support System (DSS) for its water resources planning and management program. Responses are due August 22.

The Nile Basin DSS includes: a Nile Basin Knowledge Base with a communication and information management system; a Regional River Basin Planning Model to evaluate development paths and identify joint investment projects; a suite of analytic tools; and development of core national capabilities.

In separate activity, NBI, which includes Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda, also is developing a regional power trade project. (HNN 3/16/06)

NBI now seeks a consultant to conduct all aspects of a needs assessment for developing the DSS.
