Empresa Misicuni seeks bids for technical supervision of the construction of the dam and related works of 120-MW Misicuni Dam, part of the Misicuni Multipurpose Project in Bolivia’s Cochabamba Valley. Responses are due January 22.
When complete, the project is to provide water to the Cochabamba metropolitan area and is to irrigate more than 15,000 acres, in addition to generating hydroelectric power.
With funding from Andean development corporation Corporacion Andina de Fomento, the Bolivian government, and Cochambamba Prefecture, Empresa Misicuni seeks a contractor to revise, complement, and validate existing designs of the 85-meter-tall concrete-faced rockfill dam and related works. Additionally, the contractor is to provide technical supervision of construction of the civil works.
TAMS Consultants and Ingetec supplied updated designs and studies in 2003, recommending the US$354 million project be developed in three stages. The first stage would include the dam, water diversion channels, and 80 MW of hydropower. The second stage would increase dam height to 120 meters and up hydro generation to 120 MW. The third stage would add more water diversions, water treatment facilities, and other infrastructure.
