Energie Klagenfurt GmbH has awarded a contract to automate and refurbish equipment at the 4-MW Gurkwerk hydroelectric project on Austria’s Gurk River.
Energie Klagenfurt awarded the contract, valued at 488,500 euros (US$633,090) to Poyry Energie GmbH. The firm was one of five bidders. (HNN 6/8/06)
The contract calls for renovation of hydro-mechanical equipment and automated control of turbine regulation and other operations of Gurkwerk. The plant, which has four Francis turbines, was built in 1902 east of Klagenfurt.
