Nicaragua has awarded a US$330,332 contract for turnkey equipment supply for the 212-kW El Naranjo hydroelectric project.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines announced April 23 it judged Empresa Hidro Energia S.A. of Guatemala the winner of its solicitation to equip the plant. (HNN 2/7/07)
With funding from Swiss, German, United Nations, and World Bank sources, the government is developing the small hydro project at Waslala, Nicaragua, under a program of small-scale hydropower development in off-grid areas.
Empresa Hidro Energia is to provide turnkey installation, minus civil works, of a horizontal Pelton turbine, synchronous generator, and other equipment, plus interconnection to the 176-kW Rio Bravo project, a previous project in the development program.
