HydroVision speaker spotlight: David Murray, Hydro-Quebec

David Murray, chief operating officer of Hydro-Quebec and president of Hydro-Quebec Production, is speaking during the Thursday morning plenary session at HydroVision International 2019.

Murray ensures the coordination of operational activities and the integration of company-wide initiatives that require a global vision. He is also in charge of strategic planning and managing most subsidiaries involved in the commercialization of Hydro-Quebec’s innovations, as well as all power generation activities, including facility operations and electricity sales and energy trading on wholesale markets.

The Canadian province of Quebec has “vast hydraulic resources in the form of some 500,000 lakes and 4,500 rivers.” Hydro-Quebec operates about 60 hydroelectric generating stations with a total capacity of 36,366 MW, and nearly 100% of its electricity is generated using water. This clean electricity is delivered to customers across Quebec and to the province’s export markets, including the northeastern U.S.

In fact, in June 2018, we reported on the status of Hydro-Quebec’s plan to export surplus hydroelectric power into the New England region of the U.S., via a deal for the New England Clean Energy Connect.

This plenary session will be a roundtable discussion featuring several C-level executives from electricity generating companies. Invitations have been extended to several other executives.

The plenary session is open to all attendees.

HydroVision International takes place July 23-25, 2019, in Portland, Ore., U.S.
