Darrel T. Anderson is president and chief executive officer of IDACORP and Idaho Power.

In this role, he has a focus on sustainability, defined as “sound and enduring financial, environmental and social stewardship.” Idaho Power has 17 hydroelectric projects with a total capacity of 1,709 MW as the core of its generation portfolio, on the Snake River and its tributaries. The company also operates natural gas-fired plants and owns shares of three coal-fired plants. Its total nameplate generating capacity of 3,594 MW.

Idaho Power joined the Western Energy Imbalance Market in April 2018, after an independent consultant found the move could save the utility US$4.1 million to $5.1 million annually.

Anderson spoke during the plenary session at HydroVision International 2019, a utility executive roundtable discussion.
