Indian independent power producer JSW Energy (Kutehr) Limited, a 100% subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has awarded a contract to ANDRITZ to supply electromechanical equipment for the 240-MW Kutehr hydropower plant in India.
Kutehr, on the Ravi River in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh State, will generate about 955 GWh of electric power, thus supplying clean and renewable energy to about 4.6 million households. JSW Energy acquired the run-of-river plant in 2007.
The contract will include design, manufacturing, supply, transport, erection, testing and commissioning of three 80-MW Francis turbine-generator units, along with associated auxiliaries and ancillary equipment. The contract will be executed by ANDRITZ’s Indian subsidiary with its manufacturing facilities in Mandideep and Prithla.
JSW Energy has a total generating capacity of 4,559 MW, out of which 3158 MW is thermal power,1391 MW is hydropower and 10 MW is solar power.
ANDRITZ offers a broad portfolio of plants, equipment, systems and services for the pulp and paper industry, the hydropower sector, the metals processing and forming industry, pumps, solid/liquid separation in the municipal and industrial sectors, as well as animal feed and biomass pelleting. ANDRITZ Hydro has an installed fleet of more than 430 GW output.
