2016 Hydro Hall of Fame nominations deadline approaches

The deadline to nominate your facility for election into the 2016 Hydro Hall of Fame is approaching, but there is still time to submit your entry.

Criteria for being inducted into the Hydro Hall of Fame are essentially that the long-lasting hydro facility has been operating for 100 years or more, providing reliable energy to the grid. Also, the facility cannot have been offline for more than three months.

Consideration for the honor is now open to hydropower plants around the world, although recipients must be represented at HydroVision International 2016 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, where the new class of inductees will be honored Tuesday, July 26 during the opening keynote session.

In the past, we have only elected facilities in North America. But, the PennWell Hydro Group realizes there are hydro facilities around the world that have offered reliable hydroelectric power to the grid for 100 years or more. As a result of this realization, we now offer election into the Hydro Hall of Fame to facilities anywhere on the globe.

To enter your plant for consideration, fill out the nomination form, available here, by scrolling to “Nominate Your Plant.”

This is the 21st year the Hydro Hall of Fame will recognize extraordinary hydro achievement throughout the world, with a special emphasis on longevity.

Since the award was created in 1995, 41 hydropower projects have been inducted, all of which have been in continuous operation for at least 100 years.
