AK Enerji awards contract for Turkey’s 100-MW Uluabat

Turkey’s AK Enerji has awarded a contract to Voith Siemens Hydro St. Polten, Austria, and Siemens Turkey to supply equipment for the 100-MW Uluabat hydroelectric project in western Turkey.

The suppliers are to provide complete electro-mechanical equipment, installation, and commissioning. The project is to begin operation in 2008.

Voith Siemens Hydro is responsible for supply of two 50-MW Francis turbines and 50-MVa generators, to operate at 600 rpm, as well as spherical valves, governors, excitation systems, and a complete control and protection system. The contract is valued at 15 million euros (US$19.1 million).
