Alstom Hydro expands Reunion Island’s 60-MW Riviere de l’Est

Electricite de France (EDF) awarded a contract to Alstom Hydro to supply a turbine-generator and other equipment to expand the 60-MW Riviere de l’Est hydroelectric project on Reunion Island.

Alstom Hydro is supplying a 23.55-MW Pelton turbine-generator to the project on Reunion Island, a French overseas department off the east coast of Africa.

EDF also had called for auxiliaries, a spherical valve, and penstock connections for a unit of at least 20 MW to increase Riviere de l’Est to at least 80 MW by 2009. (HNN 2/8/07)

The supplier said the equipment would be manufactured at its facilities in Spain.
