Alstom Hydro wins equipment rehab contracts for two Austria projects

Verbund Austrian Hydro Power AG has awarded contracts to Alstom Hydro Austria GmbH to refurbish equipment at the 138.1-MW Reisseck/Kreuzeck hydroelectric complex and the 14.5-MW Gralla hydroelectric project in Austria.

Alstom Hydro was chosen from two bidders to refurbish two generators at the 138.1-MW Reisseck/Kreuzeck complex. Work includes planning, supply, assembly, examination, start-up, and documentation of two three-phase alternating current synchronous generators, one of 11 megavolt-amperes and one of 25 MVa, for the Reisseck/Kreuzeck complex. The six plants in the complex include 67.5-MW Reisseck annual storage, 23.2-MW Reisseck daily storage, 45-MW Kreuzeck daily storage, 1.6-MW Niklai, 600-kW Muhldorf, and 200-kW Steinfeld. Verbund also announced in March it plans to add a 350-MW Reisseck 2 pumped-storage project to the complex. (HNN 4/2/07)

Verbund also chose Alstom Hydro Austria from among three bidders to renovate two turbine-generators at the 14.5-MW Gralla project on the Mur River. (HNN 1/26/07) That work includes renovation of two 7.73-MW Kaplan turbines and two three-phase synchronous generators, plus replacement of the cooling system.
