Alstom to equip 880-MW Dongqing, 136-MW Wujinxia

Alstom announced July 11 it has received contracts totaling 50 million euros (US$64 million) to equip two hydroelectric projects in China.

Guizhou Qianyuan Power Development Corp. commissioned the manufacturer to supply four 220-MW Francis turbines and ring gates for the 880-MW Dongqing project in Guizhou Province. The first unit is to go on line in late 2008.

Alstom also is to supply four 7.1-meter-diameter, 34-MW bulb turbine-generators to Gansu Xiaosanxia Hydro Development Corp. for the 136-MW Wujinxia project in Gansu Province. Wujinxia’s first unit is to begin operation in 2008 on the Yellow River.

Alstom’s Tianjin, China, unit is responsible for project management and design, manufacture, and delivery of all equipment.
