Austria firm names turbine, generator suppliers for 70-MW Feldsee

Karntner Elektrizitats AG (Kelag) has named winning bidders to supply a pump-turbine and a motor-generator for the 70-MW Feldsee pumped-storage project in Austria.

Kelag named VA Tech Hydro GmbH of Austria to supply Lot 1, a pump-turbine, digital governor, shut-off valve, and globe valve. VA Tech Hydro was one of four bidders for the work.

The firm named Alstom Hydro Austria GmbH to supply Lot 2, a three-phase synchronous motor-generator and exciter. Alstom was one of four bidders for that work.

The estimated 35 million euro (US$42 million) powerhouse is to be built as an addition to Kelag’s 334-MW Fragant group of hydropower stations in Austria. (HNN 12/29/05) The project is located between the existing Wurten reservoir, which will be the lower reservoir, and the existing Feldsee Lake, which will be the upper reservoir.
