Austria utility seeks turbine rehab for 63-MW Hieflau

Verbund Austrian Hydro Power AG seeks bids for refurbishment of two turbines of the 63-MW Hieflau hydroelectric project on Austria’s Enns River. Bids are due March 18.

Verbund also seeks bids March 18 for diversion structure equipment for an extension of Hieflau. (HNN 2/25/08) Built in 1956, Hieflau has three Francis turbines with three-phase synchronous generators.

The utility seeks bids to disassemble, examine, repair, renew, and start up two of the three 19.43-MW turbines and shut-off valves in 2009. The proposed contract has an option to perform similar work on the third unit in 2010. Work would include an option of refurbishment or replacement of turbine runners.
