Austria’s 112.8-MW Kaprun-Oberstufe seeks storage pump work

Verbund Austrian Hydro Power seeks bids for refurbishment of at least one storage pump at the 112.8-MW Kaprun-Oberstufe pumped-storage project in Austria. Bids are due June 12.

Kaprun-Oberstufe, which was built from 1947-1955, is the upper stage of the Kaprun hydroelectric complex, which also includes 240-MW Kaprun-Hauptstufe, the main stage of the complex; and the 500-kW Klammsee project. (HNN 9/25/06)

The utility seeks major renovation of the project’s storage pump No. 1 during 2008-2009. The contract is to include an option to overhaul the identical storage pump No. 2 from 2009-2010.
