Bank seeks study of Nicaragua’s 58.5-MW Sirena-Los Calpules

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) invites bids for a feasibility study, definitive design, and tender documents for the 58.5-MW Sirena-Los Calpules hydroelectric complex in Nicaragua. Proposals are due January 22.

CABEI has authorized funding for development of the project and seeks proposals on behalf of Nicaragua utility Empresa Nicaraguense de Electricidad.

The complex includes the 32.5-MW Sirena and 26-MW Los Calpules projects, to be built on the Viejo River between the outlet of the proposed 17-MW Larreynaga project and the town of San Andres del Tamarindo. (HNN 11/24/06)

Both sites were studied in the master plan of the Viejo River by SwedPower of Sweden and Norconsult of Norway.

Bid documents may be obtained from the CABEI Internet site, www.bcie.org, under Unidad de Adquisiciones, Aviso de Licitacion.

Consultants are invited to register by electronic mail to the addresses below. Three-envelope proposals containing eligibility documents, technical proposals, and economic proposals, are due by 4:30 p.m. January 22 to the first address below.
