BHEL to equip 50-MW Nagarjunasagar Tail Pond, 9-MW Sriramsagar 2

State-owned Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corp. (APGENCO) has awarded contracts to Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) to supply electro-mechanical equipment for the 50-MW Nagarjunasagar Tail Pond Dam project and the 9-MW Sriramsagar Stage 2 project in Andhra Pradesh State.

BHEL valued the two contracts at 820 million rupees (US$17.8 million).

The Indian equipment manufacturer is to supply two 25-MW vertical Kaplan turbine-generators, controls and excitation equipment, and associated equipment for Nagarjunasagar Tail Pond Dam, which is being built on the Krishna River. Work is to be completed in 26 months. (HNN 5/12/06)

BHEL is to supply one 9-MW vertical Kaplan turbine-generator, controls and excitation equipment, and other equipment for Sriramsagar Stage 2 on the Godavari River. The extension project will expand the 18-MW Sriramsagar project (also called Pochampad) to 27 MW in 20 months.
