Burundi seeks accountant for 31.5-MW Jiji, 16.5-MW Mulembwe hydro projects

Burundi’s water and electric utility invites expressions of interest from accountants to handle records and accounts of the 31.5-MW Jiji and 16.5-MW Mulembwe hydroelectric projects being developed in Burundi’s Bururi Province. Responses are due September 26.

The African Development Bank Group’s board of directors approved in June a US$22 million grant to help fund development of Jiji and Mulembwe. Regie de Production et de Distribution d’Eau et d’Electricite (REGIDESO) recruited consultants in July to perform a social and environmental assessment and in June to carry out procurement for the two projects.

REGIDESO now invites expressions of interest from accountants to perform accounting entries, monitor bank accounts, and monitor and maintain the capital project. The contract is expected to cover 12 months with a possibility of renewal.

Expressions of interest, labeled “Manifestation d’Interet pour le Recrutement d’un Comptable du Projet Hydroelectrique de Jiji et Mulembwe (PHJIMU),” are due to the address below by 10 a.m. September 26.

For information, contact Monsieur le Directeur General de la REGIDESO, Projet Hydroelectriques de Jiji et Mulembwe (PHJIMU), Avenue des Travailleurs No. 8, BP 660, Bujumbura, Burundi; (257) 22-273246; Fax: (257) 22-273249; E-mail: emmanuel_barinzigo@yahoo.com, jfndikumazambo@yahoo.fr.
