Burundi seeks financial management of water, power program

Burundi’s water, energy, and mines ministry invites expressions of interest in financial management consulting to its multi-sectoral water and electricity infrastructure program. Responses are due January 26.

The World Bank’s International Development Association approved a US$50 million grant in 2008 for the program, which includes financing for feasibility studies of small hydropower projects. (HNN 5/15/08)

The program is to increase access to water in the Bujumbura area, improve electricity and water quality and reliability in the region, and strengthen the water and electric utility, Regie de Production et de Distribution d’Eau et d’Electricite (REGIDESO).

REGIDESO seeks consultants to handle budgets and financial reporting, follow financial execution of contracts, and to ensure application of management and audit procedures.
