Burundi Tea Office seeks rehab equipment for Teza micro-hydro

The government of Burundi seeks bids to supply equipment for rehabilitation of the Teza micro-hydropower project and replacement of a transformer at the Burundi Tea Office tea estates. Bids are due November 4.

With financing from the European Development Fund, Burundi’s Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Development Cooperation seeks purchase and rehabilitation of equipment as part of a program to support restructuring of the tea sector. Burundi is one of eight countries that endorsed the Greening the Tea Industry program to develop small hydro projects at tea factories. (HNN 12/14/07)

The contract is divided into two lots. Lot 1 includes complete rehabilitation of the Teza micro-hydro plant. It includes delivery, installation, and commissioning of electrical equipment at Teza. Lot 2 includes replacement of a 630-kilovolt-ampere transformer at Rwegura at Burundi Tea Office tea estates.

Work is to begin within 120 days of contract signing.
