Cavico wins initial contract for 150-MW ALuoi

Central Hydropower Joint Stock Co. has awarded a contract to Cavico Corp. for service road work at the 150-MW ALuoi hydroelectric project.

Cavico signed the contract August 4 for the project in A Luoi District of Vietnam’s Thua Thien Hue Province. Cavico Chief Executive Qui Hang Bui said the initial contract positions the hydro plant builder to secure additional work on other portions of the US$168 million project.

Major shareholders in ALuoi are Electricity of Vietnam, Hanoi Power Co., Power No. 2 Co., and Power No. 3 Co. Cavico said the project was made possible by approval of Vietnam’s prime minister’s office.
