China firm wins civil work at 98-MW Xiaogushan

The Gansu Province government awarded a contract to Gansu Hydroelectric Construction Eng. Co. Ltd. for civil work related to the 98-MW Xiaogushan hydroelectric project on the Heihe River in China’s Gansu Province.

Gansu Hydroelectric received a US$1 million contract for civil work for slope engineering in the powerhouse area, the Asian Development Bank said. The run-of-river Xiaogushan project is part of the Gansu Clean Energy Development Project. It is to produce 360 gigawatt-hours, displacing energy otherwise produced by coal-fired plants.

In 2005, China Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Engineering Bureau No. 1 received a US$2.1 million contract for construction of the main tailrace gate chamber, tailrace channel, busbar tunnel of the underground powerhouse, and electro-mechanical equipment installation engineering.
