Croatia invites consultants for renewables program

The government of Croatia invites additional expressions of interest from consultants for several tasks supporting the development of renewable energy resources including small hydropower. Responses to five solicitations are due May 8.

The World Bank previously granted US$5.5 million to the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (Hrvatska Banka za Obnovu i Razvitak). The bank had called for consultants in February for three other tasks. (HNN 1/28/09)

In the current solicitations, the Croatian bank seeks consultants for:
o Contract A1-1, provide techno-economic and financial review of the renewable energy and cogeneration sector and current capped feed-in tariff system;
o Contract A1-2, provide support for implementation of an electricity guarantees of origin system;
o Contract A1-3.1, review current renewable energy and cogeneration sector legislation and propose new legislation for 2010-2015;
o Contract A1-3.2, estimate the cost of reaching renewable energy targets using available financial mechanisms and estimate benefits of creating new sectors of the economy;
o Contract A1-7.3, support development of a transmission system operator to integrate renewable energy into the electricity system.
