Dominican Republic seeks builders for 20-MW Montegrande

The Dominican Republic invites applications for pre-qualification to develop the 15- to 20-MW Montegrande multi-purpose hydroelectric project. Responses are due March 20.

The national hydraulic resources institute, Instituto Nacional de Recursos Hidraulicos (INDRHI), seeks firms for study, design, construction, and financing of Montegrande, which would be built on the Yaque del Sur River in Barahona Province.

In addition to generating electricity, Montegrande is to include flood control, drinking water, irrigation, and the creation of thousands of jobs, the government said.

Pre-qualification documents may be requested through March 10 for 5,000 pesos (US$140) by certified check to Comite de Licitaciones at the address below. They also may be obtained from the INDRHI Internet site,, or the government’s procurement website,
