French utility awards turbine contracts for six plants

Electricite de France (EDF) has awarded contracts to two bidder groups to supply a total of 15 Pelton turbines for six hydroelectric projects in France.

EDF has been qualifying companies to supply equipment to several small hydro projects annually over a period of years. (HNN 2/28/07)

The utility awarded a contract to VA Tech Hydro to supply five Pelton turbines to three hydro projects. The Austrian firm is to design, manufacture, and deliver two units to the Hospitalet project, two to Verney, and one to Izourt.

EDF also awarded a contract to Hachette &Driou, AFP, and Fravit to supply ten Pelton wheels to another three projects. The firms are to deliver four units to the Calypso project, five to Bois, and one to Belleville.
