French utility seeks civil, electrical work to expand 96-MW Gambsheim

Electricite de France (EDF) seeks bids in separate solicitations for civil works and electrical equipment for an additional generating unit at the 96-MW Gambsheim hydroelectric project on the Rhine River in France’s Alsace Province. Bids are due May 4 and May 15.

EDF previously took bids for supply and installation of a bulb-type turbine-generator of about 28 megavolt-amperes and related equipment including speed and voltage controls. (HNN 2/13/09)

On behalf of Central Electrique Rhenane de Gambsheim, EDF seeks bids by May 4 for civil construction to add the fifth unit to Gambsheim. Civil works are to include cofferdam, earthworks, demolition, concrete, access works, and water intake and return.

EDF seeks bids by noon May 15 to supply electrical equipment to interconnect the new Gambsheim unit. Equipment includes a transformer, circuit breakers, cables, and related equipment.
