Hasnay appointed to head WSP’s dams and reservoirs practice

Hans Hasnay has been appointed Dams & Reservoirs Practice Lead at engineering and professional services organization WSP USA.   

In this position, Hasnay will focus on expanding WSP’s dams and reservoir practice across the U.S.

Hasnay is a nationally recognized expert in the fields of dam and levee structures, WSP says. He has over 40 years of experience on engineering projects, including the design, construction, inspection, and management of major projects associated with dams and reservoirs, hydroelectric facilities and transmission structures. Hasnay has provided inspection and assessment, engineering analysis and design services for hundreds of dam and levee structures and has helped develop dam safety programs for public utilities, private owners and state agencies. 

Before joining WSP, Hasnay led the northeast operations of an international consulting firm focusing on dam services and served as director of hydroelectric and gas turbine generation facilities for a major utility company in New York.

Hasnay has a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Clarkson University. He contributes regularly to conferences, has developed and conducted training workshops, and has had written work featured in publications like Hydro Review.

WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP.
