Heat exchanger tubes supplied to 1,812-MW Dalles

The Corps of Engineers awarded a $112,000 contract to Energy Transfer/MDE, Youngstown, Ohio, to manufacture finned tubes for the 1,812-MW Dalles Dam in Oregon.

The tubes will be used as replacement parts during rehabilitation of heat exchangers that cool hydroelectric generators. The contract calls for the company to manufacture 2,784 tubes that conform to standards for copper alloy.

The contract, awarded in November 2005, required Energy Transfer/MDE deliver tubes by March 22 to the project powerhouse, located on the Columbia River in Oregon.
