Heller named to EPRI board of directors

Thomas J. Heller, chief executive officer of Missouri River Energy Services, has been appointed as interim director on the Board of Directors for the Electric Power Research Institute.

Heller will serve as interim director until April 2016 and also will serve on the governance and nominating committee.

Heller oversees the operation of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based MRES, an agency that supplies electricity, natural gas and related services to 61 communities in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. He has been with MRES since 1992. Before that, he worked for the Moorhead (Minn.) Public Service Department.

Other areas of service for Heller include a position on the board of directors for the National Hydropower Association and executive committee of the Consumers United for Rail Equity.

Heller has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from North Dakota State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Minnesota State University at Moorhead.

EPRI conducts research and development relating to the generation, delivery and use of electricity for the benefit of the public.
