Huennebeck supplies shoring systems to Uganda’s 250-MW Bujagali

Harsco Corp. of the United States announced its Europe-based Huennebeck access services division received an order to supply shoring equipment for the 250-MW Bujagali hydroelectric project being built on Uganda’s Victoria Nile River.

Harsco said the contract is valued at about US$2 million over its duration with the potential for further orders during subsequent stages of construction at Bujagali, one of Africa’s largest hydropower construction projects.

Huennebeck’s Italy operation is to supply a range of equipment including shoring systems and specialty brackets for construction of Bujagali’s concrete dam and three new buildings.

The Bujagali order is Huennebeck’s largest in Africa and reflects Harsco’s strategy to expand its access services work in Africa. Huennebeck received an order in 2006 to supply special formwork components for the 420-MW Gilgel Gibe 2 hydroelectric project being built on Ethiopia’s Gilgel Gibe River. (HNN 3/7/06)

Huennebeck is Europe’s third largest provider of highly engineered concrete formwork and scaffolding services for the construction industry.

Development partners Sithe Global Power LLC and Industrial Promotion Services (Kenya) Ltd. (IPS) announced financial closing December 21 of a US$682 million construction debt facility for the Bujagali project. (HNN 12/21/07)
