INDE selects Intertechne Consultores for 181-MW Xalala hydropower project studies

Guatemala utility Instituto Nacional de Electrificacion (INDE) has awarded a contract to Brazil’s Intertechne Consultores S.A. for feasibility studies and the basic design of the 181-MW Xalala hydroelectric project.

INDE opened bids for the work in January, having solicited information from developers on a build-operate-transfer basis in 2008.

Xalala will be built along the border of Quiche and Alta Verapaz departments on the Chixoy River.
