India’s CESC completes acquisition of two Arunachal Pradesh hydropower projects

India’s Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) has acquired a pair of hydropower projects in Arunachal Pradesh from the Indiabulls Group, has learned. reported in May 2012 that the company had entered into an agreement for the projects — both of which are in Arunachal Pradesh’s East Kameng District.

Included in the deal are the 56-MW Pachi and 90-MW Papu hydropower plants, which will add to CESC’s existing 90 MW hydroelectric portfolio.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Also in Arunachal Pradesh, recently reported that India’s Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) had reversed a recommendation that would have required a cumulative impact assessment for the 800-MW Tawang 2 hydropower project.
