India state seeks bids to build two small hydros

Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) seeks bids by April 20 to build two small hydro projects in India’s Tamil Nadu State on an engineering-procurement-construction basis.

Work includes supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of two 5-MW bulb turbines, generators, crane, transformers, controls, and protection for 10-MW Bhavani Barrage 1 and 10-MW Bhavani Barrage 2. Both projects are in Coimbatore District.

Bid documents, THP-172/2005-2006 may be obtained from the address below until March 2 for 10,000 rupees (US$250), or with postal delivery 12,000 rupees (US$300), in cash, banker’s check, or demand draft to TNEB Collection Account. The documents also may be obtained from TNEB’s Internet site,, with the fee subsequently paid to the agency.

A pre-bid meeting is scheduled March 17. Bids are due by 2 p.m. April 20. For information, contact N.
