India hydro utility NHPC Ltd. has extended the deadline for bids from consultants to register the refurbishment of the 105-MW Loktak hydroelectric project for sale of carbon emissions reductions. Bids now are due March 10.
NHPC previously called for bids by November 8, 2010. The developer issued a similar solicitation in 2008 for Loktak, which was commissioned in 1983. The project has been undergoing refurbishment on the Loktak River near Imphal in Manipur State. Its three original 35-MW units only provided generating capacity of 90 MW.
The utility seeks a consultant with the experience of registering verified emissions reductions (VER) of at least one hydroelectric project under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The consultant is responsible for project design document development, project validation, monitoring support, verification services, and VER selling support.
NHPC also extended the deadline for obtaining bid documents until February 22. They may be obtained from NHPC’s Internet site, www.nhpcindia.com, for an online payment of 1,000 rupees (US$23). Those who obtain such documents must submit a letter of confirmation to the address below with an online payment receipt. Documents also may be obtained in person or by written request to the address below by February 22, accompanied by the fee by crossed demand draft to NHPC Ltd. at Faridabad and labeled “Request for Tender Documents to secure and sale of VER for Renovation and Modernization (R&M) of Loktak Power Station.”
Bids, labeled “Secure and sale of VER for Renovation and Modernization (R&M) of Loktak Power Station – Tender Specification NH/Contracts (E&M)-II/VER-Lok/10,” now are due by 2 p.m. March 10.
