Italian developer awards conduit contract for Rio Casies hydro

Energy Welsperg Srl has awarded a contract to construct a buried pressure pipeline for the Rio Casies hydroelectric project, to be built on Italy’s Pidig River.

Energy Welsperg awarded the 2.62 million euro (US$3.5 million) contract to Ploner GmbH of Italy. The contract amount was 720,000 euros (US$960,000) less than the estimated 3.34 million euro (US$4.46 million) cost of the work. (HNN 2/6/07) Ploner was one of 13 firms bidding for the contract.

Ground was broken for Rio Casies in October 2006 by officials of Energy Welsperg partners, the city of Monguelfo-Tesido and utility SEL SpA. The 7 million euro (US$9 million) project is to generate up to 12 million kWh annually.
