Latin bank seeks consultants for renewables program

The Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) invites expressions of interest from consultants to support development of renewable energy initiatives in Latin America including hydropower. Responses are due November 5.

The Washington-based IADB seeks consultants to help member countries develop actions to make feasible projects and programs employing renewable energy. It seeks consultants with experience in technologies such as small hydropower and wave energy as well as wind, solar, geothermal, methane recovery, and other sources.

The bank said work could include technical, economic, and financial studies; environmental and social studies; analysis of institutional, legal, and regulatory policies; and financial structuring. The assignment is expected to take ten months beginning in January 2009.

Prospective bidders may submit questions by e-mail to the address below until October 30. IADB expects to invite proposals from about six short-listed bidders in November.

Expressions of interest and qualifications, in Spanish, are to be sent by e-mail to the address below by 5 p.m. Washington time November 5. Digital attachments may not exceed 2 megabytes of memory.
