The government of Lesotho seeks expressions of interest for four environmental and social consultant jobs at the proposed Metolong Dam on the Phuthitsana River near Metolong, Lesotho. Responses to four separate solicitations are due August 7.
The Millennium Challenge Corp. (MCC), an international development agency created by the United States, made an agreement with the Lesotho government to provide US$362.5 million to facilitate economic growth and poverty reduction. Acting through the Millennium Challenge Account Lesotho (MCA-Lesotho), the government called for proposals in May to provide program management services for Metolong Dam. (HNN 4/3/08)
Metolong, a Lesotho Lowlands Water Supply project, would supply domestic and industrial water to six lowland districts of Lesotho. MCC and the government of Lesotho previously selected Mott MacDonald Ltd. of the United Kingdom to update a project feasibility study.
The current solicitations seek expressions of interest for:
o Integrated Catchment Management Plan Consultancy to reduce environmental degradation in the Metolong Dam catchment, particularly reservoir sedimentation;
o Environmental Specialist Consultancy to oversee project preparation and implementation and to advise on environmental aspects of the Metolong Dam and Water Supply Program;
o Social Specialist Consultancy to over oversee project preparation and implementation and to advise on social aspects of the program; and
o Resettlement Plan and Policy Consultancy to develop a resettlement plan and policy with guidelines and procedures for implementation.
Expressions of interest, labeled by the titles above, all are due to the address below by 2 p.m. August 7. Responses may be submitted by hard copy, e-mail, or fax to all solicitations except the Integrated Catchment Management Plan Consultancy, which must be submitted by hard copy with name and address of the firm on the reverse side from the envelope label.
