Macedonia seeks consultants for renewables program including hydro

Macedonia’s Ministry of Economy invites applications for pre-qualification from consultants to perform studies and prepare tendering for hydropower, thermal, and other renewable energy projects. Responses are due January 5, 2009.

Macedonia has indigenous resources including small hydropower, geothermal, biomass, and wind resources. Officials say there are about 400 small hydro sites throughout the country that could generate up to 20 percent of the country’s electricity requirements. (HNN 10/21/08)

The ministry seeks consultants to develop studies, preliminary designs, tender documents, and agreements for energy projects. The solicitation wants consultants to fulfill four lots, including hydropower plants, thermal power plants, heat and power gas plants, and renewable sources of energy. The work is to require 12 months.

Solicitation documents may be obtained until noon January 2, 2009, from the address below for 100 euros (US$128).
