Mavel installs micro-turbines in Poland

Mavel a.s. of the Czech Republic announced completion and final testing of three MT10 siphon turbines at the 500-kW Olawa hydroelectric project on the Odra River in Poland.

The Olawa site, in southern Poland near Wroclaw, has a head of 3.5 meters. The three 100-kW MT10 units were added to the project, which has an existing 200-kW Francis turbine-generator.

Mavel said the newly developed units can be installed on existing weirs or gates with little or no civil excavation. The total price for a turbine-generator, inlet, draft tube, and control system package ranges from US$15,000 to US$200,000.
