Mozambique to seek consultants, contractors for grid, renewables program

Mozambique’s Ministry of Energy plans to recruit consultants, suppliers, and contractors to improve its electricity grid, advance rural and renewable energy including hydro, and plan energy sector policy.

The government has applied for a World Bank credit of US$80 million for its energy development and access project, one of several initiatives to improve and expand its hydropower-based electricity system. (HNN 4/16/09)

The project includes rehabilitation, reinforcement, and extension of its electricity network; support of investments in rural and renewable energy including small hydropower; and energy sector planning, policy, and institutional development.
