NHA extends award program deadline

The National Hydropower Association has extended the deadline for applications to Dec. 22 for its Outstanding Stewardship of America’s Waters program. The original deadline was Dec. 15.

NHA merged its previous Hydro Achievement Awards and Outstanding Stewardship of America’s Rivers program into the single program to promote, more effectively, recognition of organizations and to reflect the changing nature of the hydropower industry. (HNN 11/8/06)

As many as three recipients are to be selected in each of three categories in the new program: operational excellence; public education; and recreation and environmental enhancement. Applications will be judged on information provided for activities undertaken in the prior year.

An application form, including instructions for completing the document, is available from NHA’s Internet site, www.hydro.org, under www.hydro.org/awards2007/index.cfm.

Winners are to be notified the week of Jan. 16, 2007. Awards are to be presented during NHA’s 2007 Conference, March 15-18, in Washington.
