NHA invites applications for Outstanding Stewards program

The National Hydropower Association seeks applications by Dec. 15 for its Outstanding Stewards of America’s Waters awards program.

The program recognizes organizations and projects in the U.S. and Canada committed to excellence in the development and operation of hydropower. NHA formed the program in 2007 by merging its Hydro Achievement Awards and Outstanding Stewardship of America’s Rivers programs. (HNN 11/8/06)

NHA said as many as three awards will be presented from three categories: operational excellence; public education; and recreational, environmental, and historical enhancement. Applications will be judged on information provided for activities undertaken during 2008.

For program information and an application form, see NHA’s Internet site, www.hydro.org.

Award winners will be notified the week of Feb. 8, 2009. Awards are to be presented during NHA’s 2009 Annual Conference, May 11-13, 2009, in Washington.
