NHPC Limited reported 15% growth in its standalone net profit for fiscal year 2015-2016, with results of Rs2440 crore (US$362.9 million), compared with Rs2124 crore (US$315.8 million) last year.
In addition, sales for FY 2015-2016 rose by 9%, with Rs7347 crore (US$1.1 billion) compared with Rs6737 crore (US$1 billion).
The utility reports that total cumulative power generation at all of its power stations for FY 2015-2016 has been 23,683 MU, compared with the “excellent target” of 22,000 MU. NHPC says this is its “highest ever generation.” In addition, the utility has achieved a plant availability factor of 81.6%, compared with an “excellent MOU PAF” target of 76.8%.
NHPC has more than 5,000 MW of capacity at “standalone” and 6,587 MW of capacity on a “consolidated basis,” with a total of 20 operating stations and two units at the 160-MW Teesta Low Dam Stage IV project in West Bengal. The company also has five projects under construction with a total capacity of 3,290 MW, four of which are hydro: Teesta Low Dam Stage IV, 330-MW Kishanganga, 800-MW Parbati II and 2,000-MW Subansiri Lower.
