Nicaragua seeks equipment for 220-kW Salto Negro

Nicaragua’s Ministerio de Energia y Minas (MEM) seeks bids for turnkey equipment supply for the 220-kW Salto Negro hydroelectric project. Bids are due August 13.

With funding from Swiss, German, Dutch, United Nations, and World Bank sources, the government is developing the small hydro project at Villa Sandino in Chontales Department, under a program of small-scale hydropower development in off-grid areas. MEM seeks turnkey installation, minus civil works, of a 220-kW cross-flow horizontal turbine, synchronous generator, transformer, control cabinets, lightning protection, cables, batteries, and accessories, plus instructional manuals, operator training, and spare parts.
