Norway city seeks equipment for hydro plants at water facility

The city of Bergen, Norway, invites applications for pre-qualification to supply turbine-generator equipment for two small hydro plants to be built at Bergen’s Espeland Water Treatment Plant. Responses are due August 27, 2009.

Bergen Kommune seeks supply and assembly of two complete hydropower plants, 450-kW Osvatn, with a net head of 90 meters and flows of 0.5 cubic meters per second, and 750-kW Espeland, with a net head of 145 meters and flows of 0.5 cms.

Each plant is to feature Pelton turbines, generators, and control and operating equipment. The contract is estimated at between 2.5 million and 4 million kroner (US$402,000 and US$643,000).

Pre-qualification documents may be obtained from Bergen’s consultant, Norconsult AS, at the address below.

Applications for pre-qualification, in English or Norwegian, are due at noon August 27. Bergen Kommune plans to send invitations to bid September 3 to a short list of five to six firms.
