N.Y. offers funding to renewables suppliers

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority requests applications by May 3 for financial support for companies that would create new or expanded business in New York by supplying or servicing renewable electric energy technologies, including hydropower.

NYSERDA says $2 million is available to fund such businesses from its Renewable Energy Business Development Program, although maximum funding for any one proposal is capped at $200,000. Companies selected must share at least 50 percent of costs.

Technologies must be in commercial or near-commercial stages to be eligible. Companies submitting proposals must be located, or seeking to locate, in New York. Proposals must include a basic business plan outlining the path to a successful commercial venture.
