National Hydroelectric Power Corp. (NHPC) has awarded contracts to OM Metals Infraprojects of India to supply hydro-mechanical equipment for the 520-MW Parbati 3 and 231-MW Chamera 3 hydroelectric projects in India.
NHPC awarded a 960 million rupee (US$23.8 million) contract to OM Metals to equip Parbati 3, being built on the Sainj River in Himachal Pradesh State. Work includes spillway radial gates, spillway stoplog, fixed-wheel intake gate, intake bulkhead slide gate, trash rack, desilting chamber outer fixed-wheel gate, flushing tunnel service slide gate and emergency slide gate, surge shaft slide gate, hinged-type gates, draft tube slide gate, fixed-wheel tailrace tunnel gate, pressure shaft liners, hydraulic hoists, cranes, rope drum hoists, automatic reservoir monitoring and control, and diesel generator.
Earlier this year, NHPC awarded a 4.02 billion rupee (US$87 million) contract to Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. to supply turbine-generators and other electro-mechanical equipment for Parbati 3. (HNN 2/2/07)
NHPC awarded a 660 million rupee (US$16.3 million) contract to OM Metals to equip Chamera 3, being built on the Ravi River in Himachal Pradesh. (HNN 11/21/05) Work includes a desilting chamber gate, surge shaft gate, slide-type draft tube gates, hinged-type adit inspection gates, pressure shaft liners, trash rack, submerged spillway radial gates with hydraulic hoists, tunnel spillway crest radial gate, spillway stoplogs, gantry cranes, fixed-wheel intake gates with rope drum hoist, flushing tunnel service slide gate and emergency slide gate, remote control system for gates and reservoir, and diesel generator.
The orders for design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning of the hydro-mechanical works of both projects are expected to be executed over the next three years, OM Metals said.
