Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) invites expressions of interest by August 16 from consultants to assist with design and tendering for the 106-MW Golen Gol hydroelectric project.

WAPDA seeks preparation of detailed engineering design and tender documents for the project, proposed for the Golen Gol River, a tributary of the Mastuj River in Chitral District of Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier Province. The project is to include a diversion weir, headrace canal and tunnel, vertical and pressure shaft, and surge shaft and chambers, with a design discharge of 30 cms and average annual energy production of 436 gigawatt-hours.

A feasibility study was completed previously in collaboration with Germany’s technical assistance organization, Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ).

Pre-qualification documents may be obtained from the address below for 1,000 rupees (US$16.60). Expressions of interest are due by 11 a.m. August 16. The agency said it intends to prepare a short-list of prospective bidders from which to invite proposals.
